New York State NHS & NJHS Adviser Training
Join us for a day of professional development designed specifically for New York-based National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) advisers. The National Honor Society's representatives will be on hand to provide valuable training, insights, and resources to help you empower your students and run a successful chapter.

The registration fee is $40 per person. Once you sign up, an invoice will be automatically sent to the email address you provide. If another adviser from your school would like to attend, please have them complete a separate registration form.

- 8:15 - 8:30 a.m.: Registration and Coffee
- 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.: Welcome and Introductions
- 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.: Session 1:Honor Society Basic Necessities
Think of this as Adviser 101 with a twist—your crash course in building and running a thriving Honor Society chapter. We’ll unpack the must-knows, the nice-to-knows, and tips to make chapter management less overwhelming and more rewarding. - 10:00 - 10:15 a.m.: Coffee and Networking Break
- 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.: Session 2: Honor Society Selection Procedures
Ever wondered exactly how students earn their spot in NHS or NJHS? This session takes you behind the scenes of selection policies, from eligibility criteria to committee decision-making, so you can ensure your process is clear, consistent, and fair. - 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Lunch (Provided)
- 12:15 - 1:15 p.m.: Session 3: National Honor Society Discipline & Dismissal Policies
Membership is an honor—but it also comes with responsibilities. In this session, we’ll navigate the often-tricky waters of discipline and dismissal, giving you the tools and confidence to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, integrity, and care. - 1:15 - 1:30 p.m.: Closing Remarks

- October 15: Brooklyn Technical High School, Brooklyn, NY
- October 16: Lindenhurst High School, Lindenhurst, NY

Directions to each school
Somers High School:
Somers High School:
- Address: 120 Primrose St. Lincolndale NY 10540 - your map app will find the building with this address.
- October 14 is a Professional Learning Day at Somers High School so there will be ample parking! Please park in any spots in the main parking lot and enter through the main entrance near the flag pole.
- You can also take the Metro North to Goldens Bridge or Katonah, but would need a taxi or rideshare from either station to get to Somers High School.
- Address: 29 Fort Greene Pl. Brooklyn NY 11217
- Mass Transit is the best way to get to Brooklyn Tech. Their website details many options.
- If you choose to drive, there are parking lots within a few blocks of the school and you can walk from there. We will email building specific directions as we get closer to the event.
- Address: 300 Charles Street Lindenhurst New York 11757 - your map app will find the building with this address.
- There is parking available for those attending the training. Use the building main entrance.
- You can also take the LIRR Babylon Line to Lindenhurst, but would need a taxi or rideshare from either station to get to Lindenhurst High School.
